Day 174 till Erica returns
Day 27 till I HUG Erica in Korea!
I am getting really excited about my trip to Korea. Mostly to see Erica and little to get out of here. It will be nice to not to worry about anything other than what I put in my mouth to eat. I am looking forward to having a great time and hope I don't cry too hard when I leave my baby behind again.
I bought a red carry-on yesterday when I went shopping with Pam. It is on wheels which will minimize the amount of luggage I will have to carry. I was thinking about packing food in an empty large suitcase on wheels and bring Fike's stuff back in that. I am hoping his suitcase is on wheels- it is right? That way everything I have other than my purse will be on wheels. After the last time I had a heavy carry on, I decided I will never carry another one. It was a pain hauling it everywhere- even 1/2way across the airport when I had to go pee. I would have been happy to leave my bag unattended but didn't want to get arrested.
I am now officially "on the wagon". I am on some medication that will cause severe sickness if I drink alcohol of any kind. I will be on this for 2 weeks. March 3 is when I go off of it. Next Friday night I am going out with Shannon, Janet, and Claud and that will be sad that I can't have a glass of wine. But it won't matter because we will have a blast just seeing each other again.
I went out with the "party of 5" (actually 4 because one was missing-Kim, Monica, Candy, me and Karen in absence) on Friday night. We were going to go towards Downtown to "The Drop" but the weather got too bad. We went to Cactus Grill instead and then Paddy O'Quigleys. We had a great time celebrating Kim's divorce and Monica's engagement. I felt like we are the recreated "Sex in the City" because we had the 20s, 30s, and 50s covered. We are missing someone in their 40's . I think I could be the 40's and Karen be the 50's. There was a live band at Paddy's and the lead singer was older and he kept staring at me. I mean really- I am with 3 hot young chicks- but he seemed to have eyes for me. I am talking away with my head turned and all of the sudden someone throws their arm around me. I thought it was someone I knew and I turned and it is the lead singer still singing on his cordless microphone! The whole bar is looking at me now. The gals really got a kick out of it and then he said "don't worry you don't have to get a restraining order" after the song was over. As I walked out later he grabbed my arm and said "please don't leave. . . " I had to tell Rick so he could get a little jealous. Then Kim came over to my house to see the DVr of Grey's Anatomy. It was really good- but it was midnight and she kept dozing off. It was funny. She weights about 90 lbs and we made her take one shot and I think it might have been too much for her. She is a sweetie and is under way more stress than me- 2 young kids and recently divorced from a minister.
Rick went to Iowa for work and then ran up to Spencer to see one of his old pals that recently moved back there. He had such fun he thought about staying an extra day but came on home. He got to go hang out at his old stomping, drinking grounds and then went to bed by 10. We are old.
I am trying to pry K out of bed to do some homework before his tutor gets here. I worry about him but am hearing about similar issues all around. I ran into someone I know who told me her daughter was arrested yesterday who is a sophomore- that she is so wild. Erica, you know this mom, so I had to take the comment with a grain of salt. She said she didn't know where her daughter finds all these lowlife friends. I could understand how she feels.
Now my daughter I don't worry about. We received a letter from UMKC saying that several professors have expressed an interest in having her as their paid assistant- that she can choose! WOW! Also there is a student and family orientation March 10. We are going to it but want to make sure that there no change in plans before we do so.
Anyway- gotta go. Just remember, Erica- "life is so much less without you!"
